Starting this March 1, Cuba will modify the retail prices for the sale of fuel in national currency, the Ministry of Finance and Prices (MFP) confirmed this Thursday. The purchase option in foreign currency will also come into operation in the marketing network for tourism and in all service centers, the source indicated.
According to the MFP, the computer systems of the Cimex corporation affected by a recent cybersecurity incident were restored, which affected the fuel commercial network.
The new rate will not be applied to those who provide cargo and passenger transportation services in non-state management forms, to ensure that there is no type of impact or increase in ticket prices for the population, the agency clarified.
As part of the implementation of the Government's projections to correct distortions and re-boost the economy, a new electricity rate will also come into force tomorrow, with a 25 percent increase only for consumers who spend more than 500 megawatt-hours per month.
